Provisional Tax Calculator (IRP6)
Short answer: Each provisional payment is roughly half the tax on your estimated taxable income for the year, less the PAYE and earlier payments already made. The first is due by 31 August and the second by the end of February.

Frequently asked questions
Who must pay provisional tax?
Mostly people with income that has no PAYE on it, such as sole proprietors and freelancers. See provisional tax explained.
What if I underestimate?
SARS can add an underestimation penalty on the second payment if your estimate was too low. The optional third payment after year end can reduce interest.
Does OptiTax submit my IRP6?
No. It estimates from your records. You or your accountant submit and pay on eFiling.
